Louise34 Posted July 16, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2007 First time sailing on RCI in several years. One of the ports is Haiti, and I read that it is RCI's private island. Can anyone describe what is there? Is it a beach...marketplace...??? Also, does the Liberty have anytime dining, as Princess has or only early/late seating? Thanks for your help. willysgrandma Posted July 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2007 RCCL has fixed seating dining, unless you go to one of the alternate restaurants or the buffet. Labadee has markets and several beaches.
pmshirl Posted July 16, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2007 It is their private island labedee. There is a beach, a craft market, the area is manned with crew workers from RC that serve you. They have a buffet set up on the island, to eat (at no cost) drinks are purchased with your sea pass card. There are water sports for a fee. There are lounge chairs by the beach at no cost. The island is not very big. No the Liberty does not have anytime dining. Just early and late seating.
Rare TPKeller Posted July 16, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2007 Labadee is not actually an island, but a peninsula on the north shore of Haiti. Here's a view from space, with many of the points of interest marked for you to see. Theron
PhinsAndGills Posted July 16, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2007 Some threads to help you! Instead of re-typing what I've typed before, I found some of my old Labadee posts for ya! http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=369422 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=369181 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=357111 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=357476 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=357881 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=262963 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=335437
PantherFan Posted July 16, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 16, 2007 Labadee is really nice. I think it is big enough, you can lounge around, do water sports, hike, go to their tiny market, have the bbq and just relax. Take your water shoes because the beach is rocky in places but it is so nice, you'll love it.:)
cb at sea Posted July 16, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 16, 2007 Beautiful place--one of our favorite stops! If you aren't into shopping, avoid the "marketplace". The vendors can really hassle you. It's a great beach day!
Louise34 Posted July 17, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Thanks for all the info and pictures. Sounds wonderful, as we enjoy both the beach and marketplace. Plus, helping their economy is always a plus. We look forward to experiencing Labedee.
ken_nyc Posted July 17, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Do you have to tip there if someone helps you with a chair or something?
