mexico5 Posted July 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Hi, just read the new smoking rules thread before it was closed down. Can I just ask if smoking is still allowed in your cabin and at the outdoor pool? I love no smoking, but this is my mom's first cruise and she is a smoker so I really need to know. Thanks! mexico5 Posted July 17, 2007 Author #2 Share Posted July 17, 2007 I just tried to find out the new policy on the NCL website but could not find it. Anyone have a link to it? Thanks!

richkinkade Posted July 17, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2007 "We want you to be comfortable on board, so public areas throughout all NCL ships are smoke free. If you smoke cigarettes, you can do so in your stateroom, on your balcony, in the casino or Cigar Bar (where available). If you prefer pipes or cigars, you can smoke in the Cigar Bar or designated smoking lounge. Also, you can smoke cigarettes, pipes and cigars outside on open decks (just not around food venues, sport decks, kids’ pool areas and other designated non-smoking areas)." http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPages.html?pageId=FAQ#sdg
mexico5 Posted July 17, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Thanks everyone, I was concerned about our cabin and the pool so it sounds like it will be okay for my mother! I did not think they could make the whole ship non smoking without any notice at all, but that seems to be the way things are going! Maybe my mom will start smoking less! (Or stop cruising...) Thanks!
salty dingo Posted July 17, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 17, 2007 It should be easy to find the side of the ship which is the smoking area... it will be the one with the ashtrays on the table!
scperk Posted July 17, 2007 #10 Share Posted July 17, 2007 I think usually one side of the pool is smoking and the other side is not..Dennis
electricron Posted July 17, 2007 #11 Share Posted July 17, 2007 Here's NCL's smoking policy: What about smoking, drinking and gambling on the ship? We want you to be comfortable on board, so public areas throughout all NCL ships are smoke free. If you smoke cigarettes, you can do so in your stateroom, on your balcony, in the casino or Cigar Bar (where available). If you prefer pipes or cigars, you can smoke in the Cigar Bar or designated smoking lounge. Also, you can smoke cigarettes, pipes and cigars outside on open decks (just not around food venues, sport decks, kids’ pool areas and other designated non-smoking areas). I did not see Main Pool areas listed as non-smoking. But it is true as others have replied, NCL in the past allows smoking on just one side of the ship on the open decks. tundragirl Posted July 18, 2007 #12 Share Posted July 18, 2007 I think the no smoking is a good idea, some of us are very allergic to cigarette smoke, we get very ill. :D
