LoveDeck10 Posted July 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2007 Cruise companions are looking for a simple alternative to London for the few nights before our RT Dover cruise on Crystal (departs Aug 20). They would be happy with a small hotel or B and B. They plan to take the train from Heathrow out to Dover. They are seasoned travelers and don't need much to make them happy. Most hotels they've seen are in the 200 GBP range. Ugh! Any ideas would be most appreciated.
paulanddarnell Posted July 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2007 We are staying at the Blakes of Dover this Friday night. The price was 80 pounds which is with VAT but no breakfast. I can let you know when I return how it went (We won't be back until the 12th). There are many nice B&B's in Dover.
Bristol Posted July 29, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2007 We booked our B&B in Dover by checking out this site www.stayindover.co.uk/hotels.html There are a lot of nice sounding reasonably priced places.
marjie_cruiser Posted August 2, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2007 :) Hello, We are staying at Amanda's bed and breakfast in Dover. It was recommended in Rick Steves guidebook. They serve breakfast too. Marjorie
skandls Posted August 2, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2007 We stayed outside of Canterbury. I now wish we had a hotel in Canterbury proper. It is a charming town. Lots of young people from the university. Many restaurants and pubs. We booked a car service from Heathrow to Canterbury and then Canterbury to the ship. Canterbury is about 20 minutes from Dover. I looked online for Dover but could not find 2 rooms in any of the B&Bs. It was a Friday so things got booked up months before. I would stay in Canterbury if we take another cruise from Dover. I would like to spend some time in town.
tandogtwo Posted August 17, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 17, 2007 You can't go wrong with this choice. I know several people that have stayed there and they say it is great. http://www.eastlee.co.uk/
