PAJJJ Posted July 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2007 New Cruiser here with a question. We're off on our first cruise on Aug 4 with RCCL's Enchantment and just received our electronic travel docs. We had requested first seating but docs show our request was not accommodated and we're booked at 8:30. Anything we can do?
Sue L Posted July 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2007 When you get on board find out what time the Maitre'D will be available and go and talk to him. They should have the hours posted in the Compass (little newspaper) that will be in your cabin when you arrive.

DonnaK Posted July 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2007 It's usually not a problem to get your seating time changed if you go to the maitre-d as soon as you board. You may have to stay with late seating for the first night, and then the next day, there'll be a notice in your cabin that your dining assignment was changed to meet your request. Desert Cruizers Posted July 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2007 If you don't wish to dine first evening in the dining room, you will have other dining options. As stated, check with the maitre-d about changing. RADIANCE OF THE SEAS, HAWAII OCTOBER 11, 2008

Step One: Try to board early. Your docs may say boarding starts at 2:00, but you can actually get there around 11:30 or 12:00 and go aboard. The earlier you get there, the better chance you have of getting what you want. Step Two: As soon as you get on board, go to the dining room; Check out the tabel numbers and locations, and make a mental note of where you would like to sit and what number is on that table. If you are going to ask for a change, why not pick your best option? It may not be available, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Step Three: The Mairtre 'D is very rarely the one you see, but there will be SOMEONE at a post with a computer (usually the second floor), who arranges "Changes" in dining-room assignments. Talk to him/her about changing to early dining AND the table/area you would like. Hope This Helps.

Anything we can do? If following the excellent advice still doesn't get you a main seating table, you can try late seating once and, if it just doesn't work for you, you can eat in the Windjammer any time you like. It's not the same experience as it's a buffet, but it will be less crowded, quieter and the food will usually be the same as that served in the dining room. Good luck! Happy ks Posted July 29, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Late dining isn't such a bad thing, we purposely choose it, even when our kids were younger. There is so much going on, it's always a drag to have to stop what you are enjoying to go to dinner. We rarely eat before 7:30 at home, so another hour isn't a big deal to us. We find we have more time to enjoy the cruise ship and take a nap, get ready at our leisure and many times the show for the late diners is before dinner (although we rarely go to shows anymore :p ) Changing isn't a big deal, like many have stated here, we've had to do it in the past. Sometimes they have the hours posted at the desk when you can come to change, sometimes they are already out there. My point is, if you can't get it changed, it's not a horrid thing :)
Creeks Posted July 29, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 29, 2007 We too asked for early dining when we started cruising. After several cruises, we were on one that we HAD to take the 2nd seating. We found we really liked it a lot better, and now always request late seating - no rushing to get ready after a day in port. And no, we don't take 'anytime dining' when it is available. MoreCruisesNow Posted July 29, 2007 #10 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Or...if you're still around reading, you might try calling RCI. It just may be that Main dining is open at this moment.

Anything we can do? If you can view your reservation online, you should be able to request a 'waitlist' status for your preferred dining time, even though you have already received you docs. If you do that, it may end up being taken care of before you even arrive. We just did this - I waitlisted us for late seating, and just happened to notice yesterday that we have already been changed to the late seating.
