lovesyorkies Posted July 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2007 Hello. I have been on a dozen or so Ocean cruises but we decided to book the Gate1 Affordable Egypt tour which includes a 3 night river cruise on the Nile. I was wondering about Ship safety on the river boats. Are there lifeboats? If no, what are the safety measures? Our cruise includes our three meals. Are snacks available on board at other times? I cant think of anythign else right now but I would love any information on what to expect and specifically any info about Egypt and cruising the nile. Thanks! pacmom Posted July 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2007 There are life jackets--don't know the depth of the Nile, but the other rivers are shallow enough that being up on the sun deck has you above the water level even if the ship sinks. At least that is what they tell us on the European rivers. We spent 7 nites on the Nile in Feb. and were never hungry. We have tea and cookies at 4 every afternoon, served on the sun deck. You can always buy snacks and keep the in your room. Am jealous that I can't go back with you, it is a magnificent country. Pat
