Just off Legend

Recommended Posts

One question, silly one, Did the Legend of the Seas have all you can eat ice cream, soft serve, 24hrs?

It seemed to be working everytime we passed (and some times that my 15 year-old was still up and we weren't)!! They close one of the machines to clean periodically, but the other is still working. It actually said "Frozen Yogurt", and not ice cream, but my kids still loved it...

I was also on the 7/18/07 sailing. The Captain was Nikolaos Antalis. He lived up to reputation on these boards, he is very personable!

The Captain was fabulous!! Coming from the area of Toronto with the largest Greek community outside of Greece, I felt right at home! Loved his Greek dancing!

On our sail-away from Dubrovnik, he made it seem like he sailed past the harbour and walls just for us to take some more lovely pictures, even though it was probably just the way he was supposed to go!!

Hockey Mom, what an awesome first cruise! Glad to hear such good things about the ship and the Captain.

We are getting pretty excited. Leave Sat. for Rome and then board the Legend a week Thursday.

I am still trying to not overpack so I can bring back different things from our trip, e.g. honey from Turkey, etc.

Did you buy much over there?

Thanks

Kathy:)

I'm sooooo jealous!! We are so excited to try this itinerary. It would be great to see Greece with a Greek captain. He suggested that we would all go to his house if we stayed for the next cruise... Especially since I grew up at Pape and Danforth in Toronto (Greektown), I would love to go there. Egypt and Turkey are facinating also. I look forward to your review!!

We didn't actually buy too much, just a couple bottles of olive oil and some small glass things (jewlery) and masks from Venice (cheap stuff). The kids bought Italy jerseys, and that's about it. We were worried about the liquids for the flights, and were heartbroken not be be able to buy a lot of Italian wine!!

We packed a lot, but seemed to only have a few things between 5 of us that we could have left behind. No washing machines on the ship is a definite minus, but really the only one. We LOVED the Legend---such a nice size...we could meet the same people every day and got to know many of the guests and staff. It was easy to find the kids also when we needed to.

The only think that I wish I had brought was this thin gel neck wrap that I had that you soaked in cold water, and wore around your neck to try to keep you cool. It was scortching hot (42 celsius some days), and some excursions were a struggle because of it.

Hope you have an amazing time!!

Was this the poolside Bingo on the second sea day?? So you're the one who beat us!! :( We had two cards waiting for one number each for about the last 4 numbers called! Oh well, congratulations! We still had fun...

We loved the cruise!! We thought everything was great!! Being our first cruise, we have nothing to compare it to, but were very satisfied with the ship, cabin, food, crew, kids activities, etc. My kids are endlessly bugging me to book the Greece/Turkey/Egypt itinerary of the Legend for next year. We're trying to wait until 2009, but I'm not sure that we can!! However, it appears that all the balcony cabins are already sold out for summer 2008, and we really liked our connecting balcony cabins...

No, It was the bingo in the the lounge....I had just won a jackpot in the casino, and so we were really excited about that...when my husband stood up and then got Bingo (He was playing one of my cards) they teased him and said that was the calmest bingo they had ever heard. We are booked on the Adventure next April, and we will be going on as Diamond level, which is kind of exciting. I would be feeling better about things if I had my luggage back, but it doesn't look promising! Glad you all had a great time!
