Dee777 Posted August 2, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2007 Could anyone tell me if we're getting a bad stateroom? We will be cruising the western Caribbean, Jan.6/07 on Carnival Valor, Cabin 6284,balcony. We've never done the cruise thing before, this is our first. To be honest, I am somewhat apprehensive, but I'm sure once I am on the ship I'll be alright! Thanks for any assistance! Dee
serene56 Posted August 3, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2007 Hi Dee- Welcome to cruise critic. How bad can a cabin on the high seas be-- you are on vacation and not working. Not cooking. not cleaning-- just total relaxing. You have a cabin conveniently located by the elvators/stairs. Both cabins on either side only hold two people so no worry about noise factor from whole families being booked there. If you go to carnival web page click on funships/ carnival Valor then state rooms it will show youwhat your cabin will look like. You are located port side (left- (4 letters in each word) but that doesnt mean you could be facing the ports at each stop- depends on the captain- -how many ships are in ports etc etc
Dee777 Posted September 18, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted September 18, 2007 Thank you for your reply! I always seem to be apprehensive when trying out new things, and so am working myself up into a real dither over this cruise! There will be 17 of us going altogether on this cruise... my inlaws, my adult kids, my hsband and myself... only two couples have booked balcony suites (my husband and I, and our daughter and her boyfriend who will be in the room right next to us). The rest are in inside staterooms, 4 floors below us. I am looking forward to ordering room service each morning, this to me would be the ultimate in luxury! If I hadn't mentioned before, we are leaving Miami on the 6th of January / 08, hopefully will be a great time! I appreciate being able to access all the helpful information found here, thanks to all of you! Dee

serene56 Posted September 18, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2007 room service menu is kinda little. Nothing hot is to be had. Here is a copy.. what you see is what you get. http://travel.webshots.com/photo/1114576414044264514PfSdSF since its your first cruise--- this is what you do-- tell your honey what you want for breakfast and he goes and gets it while you sleep in-- and he makes up the balcony for you to have breakfast. You also want a insulated mug since the cups the ship supplies are very small....maybe 4 oz.

logbook Posted September 29, 2007 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2007 We were just on the Valor in April. I LOVED that ship!! You will have a great time. I don't know anything about your cabin location, as we were on Panorama (10). But it sounds like you will be in a great spot - a deck or two down to the dining room and up a few for the pool We also had our first balcony and really enjoyed it.l
baseball16 Posted October 3, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 3, 2007 Your cabin on the valor doesn't seem to be in a bad place. I have been on some ships that were noisy and it was an awful week no matter what some people say. A week with little or no sleep makes you very cranky. Your cabin looks like it is after you go outside of the casino just above that part so there should not be a lot of noise from there I wouldn;t think. Have fun, lighten up to my family this is the best trip in the world. You don;t have to do anything but pick your food and walk to the table. ITS GREAT
cruiserbryce Posted October 4, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 4, 2007 we have had a stateroom in a very different part of the ships each cruise we've been on...as far as balconies go...we have been midship on deck 5 and all the way in the back on deck 6...both were great...we were worried about engine noise when we were in the back of Caribbean Princess but weren't disturbed at all by any noise...I'm sure the cabin's great...enjoy your trip
