jt58203 Posted August 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2007 Have any of you received the resident discount? Many online TAs ask for this (you select your state or put in your zip code as they say you may quailify for a special discount). If so, I was curious to know which cruise line, what month you travelled, etc.

But if you hit it right you save a few bucks.:) :D :D :)

velvetred Posted August 17, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2007 My sister, niece, youngest son, and I sailed on RCI's Explorer of the Seas in January 07 with a resident discount in a balcony cabin. I booked directly on RCI's website. I ran the rates first using my home state of Tennessee - no resident discount. When I plugged in my sister's home state of Kansas the resident discount popped up. We grabbed the rates and saved several hundred dollars. I run my home state alot and nothing ever pops up so I know the discount only applies to certain states. Plus, when you check in someone in the cabin has to have id from the applicable state to keep the discount at the time of sailing.
cjm61 Posted August 22, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 22, 2007 I've been cruising way too long and have never seen or received a resident discount. I don't think they give New Yorkers discounts :-(
Muushka Posted August 24, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 24, 2007 Last October or so we booked a resident rate (NC) on Celebrity. The discount was for concierge class only cabins and were about $100 pp less than a standard balcony cabin.
eh2zed Posted August 24, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 24, 2007 Don't forget there are also certain cruises that have special discounts for police, firefighters, teachers, military, 55+, etc.

I don't think they give New Yorkers discounts :-( Actually, I've seen quite a few. If you go to ecruises.com, you can plug in 2 different states at one time (which can end up being really convienient) and it'll show you what cruises you're eligible for residency rates. :)
megr1125 Posted September 14, 2007 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2007 I got one for my next cruise thru RC directly. It just popped up one day and I happened to be poking around their website. I got it, then a couple days later it was gone, then back and now gone again. It was only on JS at the time....now the price is 700 MORE.
