A question about the onboard Arcade

Recommended Posts

On the Glory, is there an arcade?

Do you pay for each game?

Can you use a Sign & Sail card to get tokens?

I'm trying to figure out if there is any reason my 11-year-old daughter needs to be able to charge things to her S&S card. The only thing I could think of is an arcade room (presuming it's a pay as you play).

Thank you!

I've always wondered if it was a kids only space. I usually cruise when there aren't too many kids on the ship and I use to love arcade games but never had the nerve to visit that part of the ship:o

The arcade is open to anyone.

Yes, you use your sign and sail card.

Be careful, my ds (11) spent $130 the first day and 1/2 of our cruise. He did not realize that clicking continue charged his card. The pursor had warned of this when we charged his card, but he was too excited to listen. He was crushed! A HARD lesson learned. He had earned every cent, then his sister (8) went and won Bingo for $175 and had not earned it, he was mad!

The Glory has a nice arcade, located near a lot of the adult entertainment, so you can go back and forth to check on your kids while you're in the piano bar or casino.

I've always let my boys (9 &11) have charging privledges on their S&S card. It's a good way for your kids learn how to manage money and respect limits. I allow them to purchase 1 smoothie a day and use a certain amount in the arcade each day.

Giving them a little bit of responsibility is a good thing!

I was thinking on our Ecstasy cruise there was a limit of $20 a day for the arcade. I know when our boys could no longer use their s&s card, they used ours. We spent over $200 for a 5 night cruise! But our ship never made any ports and basically that is all they had to do (or wanted to do). This time I will put a daily limit on their cards.

You have all been incredibly helpful!

Maybe I'll put a $15 or $20 per day limit on her S&S and she can spend it as she wants -- arcade games, smoothies,...

She has been saving money for the cruise, so I think she'll be able to buy some souvenirs or clothes in ports and at the ship giftshop.

One way we've helped her earn money is for every ten minutes I do multiplication flashcards with her, she gets one dollar. She usually does ten minutes each day. I think I'll have to make some division flashcards because she's getting really good at the multiplication.

I've also been holding back all of her allowance for about seven weeks now.

SunnieD, that sure was a hard lesson for your son. I don't know what lesson he learned from his sister's Bingo win! :D

And okgirl, get in there and play! ;) I love playing the arcade games!

Thanks, everyone!

Great information to know. Thanks for posting the question! The boys' grandfather is sending money for the arcade and extra spending. I like the idea of putting it on their s&s card and teaching them responsibility with the money. Though, if they take after my husband and video games, the money would be gone the first day. :)

Thanks for sharing such this great idea! My youngest is weak in his multiplication skills and hates doing flashcards. I think I'll start working with him using your 'method' today!

Thanks again!
