On the Carnival Pride...

my son is 18...he doesn't drink, but can he go in the disco with us older folks? There is a disco, right? Can he go in the Casino?

Thank you!

My son is 18 and was with us on Carnival Glory in June. He could go to the Casino, Disco, and the comedian's adult show. The Disco was not his thing, but he did try a little Blackjack and the slot machines at the Casino. (He had budgeted a set amount to try the Casino for the first time.)

  Ok, you are all saying that 18 year olds CAN gamble on Carnival?? I thought they had to be 21? Did they recently change their rule on this or has it always been like that, because i could swear that on RC you had to be 18, but on carnival that age was 21?

Well, i just checked, and you guys are RIGHT!! Now i have to decide on whether to tell my 18yo son this news, lol!!!!

I'd let him know now ;) This way at least you can talk to him about budgeting money over the days of the cruise.

And make sure he knows not to take a cash advance on the s&s card

Yeah, i was just kidding, i'll tell him...eventually!;) He will be taking his own spending money, so i'm pretty sure he will be careful with it! Now, if it were MY money he was spending...well, THAT'S another story...:D

YOur son can gamble at 18 but cannot get into disco. They check ID very closely. My son lived in the casino and lost his summer money. Not much else to do as an 18 year old.

yes, you can get into the disco at 18. The first thing they tell you is after 11 pm only 18+ are allowed into the disco. HOWEVER, if you bring a high school ID they DO NOT allow you in, regardless of whether you are a senior or not.

So for the 18 year olds who want to go to the disco, make sure you take a valid state ID, your passport, or drivers license. (they do not allow you to order alcohol though, that's @ 21)

I quote from the Carnival Valor Capers: "11 pm: One Small Step Disco Opens (18 & over; guests must show proper ID with birth date)"

If you still have problems getting into the disco, then take your ID, and the capers, show it to the door men and if they refuse to grant you admission, talk to the pursers and have them sign a paper saying you have proper age & can enter (after they verify it)

They expect them to gamble, but my son is not one to gamble his money away. They cannot drink, but yet they expect them to go into the adult clubs. I told Carnival that the ones from ages 18 to 20 need a place to go or some sort of meeting activities on board so they can meet others in that age group.

That would be such a great thing!! I'm not sure exactly what he WILL be doing, but I will give him a little money to hang out in the casino, maybe he will win something and then share it with the mother who gave him life!!:D Or he may go ahead and keep it all for himself!!:( :D
