We are a family of 4 and we would like the cheapest most reliable way to the port of miami from FLL. Do you have any suggestions?

Rent a car either using a discount code or on hotwire. You should be able to find something for around $20 before taxes.

If your not up to driving yourself Tri County Airport Express offers Town Car service from Ft Lauderdale airport to the Port of Miami for $64. Reservations are not required, no need to give out credit card information over the phone beforehand.

When you arrive at the airport, collect your luggage and go outside the baggage claim area, lower level, curbside, contact one of the starters (customer services reps.) wearing a white shirt with "AIRPORT EXPRESS" in red on the back of the shirt and an emblem on the sleeve and over the breast pocket. Let the starter know what service you are interested in and he/she will assist you.

We arrived in FLL back in Feb for a cruise out of Miami, used Tri County Airport Express as recommended on the board. The service was great, opted to pay a few dollars more for our own car instead of the group van thing. Great service and like posted just proceed to their booth outside of baggage claim.

We are cruising in two weeks. We rented a car from Dollar.com in Fort Lauderdale and will drop it off the next day at the airport in Miami. They will then shuttle us free to the pier.

We are paying $21 for the car which equates to $32 after taxes.

tomsmom -

I'd be interested to hear how things go with your Dollar rental and shuttle from Miami Airport to the pier.

We are cruising in November and are planning to do the same thing - pickup at FLL airport, return to MIA airport and take their free shuttle to the pier.

Our other choice is to rent a car from Avis and return it in Miami to a closer location to the port and get our own taxi to the port but Dollar's price is quite a bit lower and their shuttle is free.

Thanks.

Umm... if you're going on a cruise, check with the CRUISE LINE and see if they'll give you free (a deal) on transfers.

We did the cruise shuttle with NCL, it was a large bus that we waited on for close to an hour while it filled......

What is the discount code? I was on dollar and only found a rate around $46.00 for the cheapest.

Bassman - I booked with Dollar over the weekend and a rate code popped up to the right of the information I typed in. I had to click on the yellow box to find out the rate code, then type it in. It may be easy to miss if you don't look closely. It wasn't applied automatically.

Yesterday it was Promo Code 927 - a weekend day special for Miami only

Rate Code RWUE1.

Keep trying if you don't have to book right away - prices change all the time. Or look under the specials to see if any apply to you.
