volvo99 Posted August 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2007 I have a copy of this hardbound book circa 1995. It is the history of RCCL from the Skaugen and Ed Stephen days up until the introduction of the Legend, Majesty, and Sovereign of the Seas. Lots of pictures, great writing, and it gives a feel to cruising that seems alien to the experiences cruisers rant about nowadays. Seems like an interesting juncture; new larger, elegant ships without the bells and whistles of ice rinks or climbing walls. Anyone else possess a copy? dougnewmanatsea Posted August 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2007 I once sought to buy a copy but apparently its rarity made it very expensive on the used market, so I was discouraged. (I have no idea what they sell for now - your mention may make me go have another look.) As I recall, it was never actually sold but rather was a very limited run that was given to whoever RCCL saw fit at the time. I would love to read a book like this about Carnival but it just isn't in Carnival's corporate culture to have one written.
