flight home from Southampton

I always work it backwards: If you have a 12:40 flight you need to be in the airport to check-in by 10:30 (depending on seating - if coach add another 30-60 minutes). So you would have to be on the road by 9 to be safe to off load bags (add another 10-15 minutes if returning rental car). So depending on what your exact plans are you need to leave the docks as early as 8:45, if you are taking trains and coaches I would allow more lee time, no one wants to ruin a trip by having the stress and panic of not knowing whether they will make their flight at the end. Personally I would go for the later flight and enjoy a meal in the airport departure or do some last minute shopping so as to minimize stress, but that is all individual!

You should be fine. To play it safe be sure to be one of the earlier ones off board. Also, be sure to figure out your transporation. While it's a long drive to the airport, you will not have to deal with weekday traffic which is good.
