soda fountain on Gem

My BF and I along with 4 friends are sailing on the GEM 26.1.08. We are considering purchasing the soda package but wondered about its worth as we would only be using the soda as mixers - if indeed that is allowed. Are we just as well purchasing the mixers along with the alcohol?

We're sailing on the GEM in February, 2008, and usually embark from NYC. We just take aboard whatever soda we need as it's only a 4 hour drive for us. Can't wait for the first passengers to report back.
