HaloV Posted August 28, 2007 Author #26 Share Posted August 28, 2007 Hi SelectSys, The ship was Radisson,Paul Gauguin. In fact my DH reminded me that 2 different flights the ship waited for. The ship said they just go faster to make up the time. We have been on at least three cruises that have said they are waiting for a delayed flight and will leave later. We always thought "How nice of them!!" Hi Spikesgirl, I am a worrier too. We also try to leave a day early. This cruise deal was so good we couldn't pass it up. Knowing we couldn't leave a day early to Auckland was a bummer. That is why we want to leave a day early to SF, just to be there for the Auckland flight. We are for sure getting ins. Too far from home not to. I think I am slowly getting everything figured out. We are leaving for SF on 1/3. According to all of the flights for Auckland, they leave 1/4 to get there by 1/6. Thanks for all of your help. By the way, we will most likely staying at Red Roof Inn. Thanks, HaloV
Spikesgirl Posted August 28, 2007 #27 Share Posted August 28, 2007 HaloV - I will keep my fingers crossed ofr you that all will go well and that there will be no worries involved with your flight or cruise. Just makes sure you get the Red Roof by the airport (650.342.7772 - it's in Burlingame) and you won't have any troubles getting back and forth to the airport. Keep your eyes open on the way in and you'll see various restaurants, although I do highly recommend Kincaid's for a great 'before you leave' dinner. Have a great cruise! SelectSys Posted August 29, 2007 #29 Share Posted August 29, 2007 HaloV - I could see that Radisson/Regent would wait for a delayed flight into Papeete. I would imagine that given the relatively low frequency of flights into the Tahiti from international destinations, they had many passengers waiting. Plus it is a much smaller and higher end than the mass line ships. Spikesgirl - We were on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas. The ship was packed nearly to full capacity with families - 3,000+ guests. I would expect all of these large ships regardless of line pretty much behave the same way when it comes time to departing. They may wait a few minutes in some ports, but I would expect it wouldn't be too long before they go. They certainly make the announcements each port day that the ship leaves promptly at a particular time.
Spikesgirl Posted August 29, 2007 #30 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Selectsys - the only time I saw a Princess ship wait was in Vietnam and only because the government officials would not let us sail until we had a full account of all our passengers. Five people decided to hit the beach and came wandering back a full hour behind our departure time. They were actually bragging about it until they were met by officers as they boarded and taken away. They were escorted off the ship at our next port of call for their efforts (I am assuming there is more to the story, but that was the outcome.) HaloV Posted August 30, 2007 Author #31 Share Posted August 30, 2007 We have been on some ships that had problems with the excursions being late. If you make your excursions through the ship they wait for you too.:D Our friend's flight was delayed (Royal Caribbean Cruise line) The ship also waited for them. So it does happen.
