Holonlulu Pearl Harbor Excursion

I am researching a trip for our 30th anniversary next year. I was looking at the NCL Shore excursion for Pearl Harbor. It states"Due to heightened security, absolutely no purses, backpacks, fanny packs or camera cases are allowed at Pearl Harbor." What do I do with my Purse? and the valuables I usually carry? Anyone else have this problem? I am open to suggestions.

Thanks

Leave them on the excursion's bus.

There is lots of info on this, plus other tips for Hawaii cruises over on the Ports of Call board for Hawaii, but the short answer is the choices are: a) leave valuables on the tour bus if it will be locked; b) don't take anything that doesn't fit in your pockets or around your neck; or c) pay the storage fee for small items at the baggage storage location across the parking lot from the Arizona Memorial line (next to the Bowfin ticket booth). For our visit to the Arizona we chose option b (we left from our hotel so had a bit of flexibility on what we were carrying) -- we took our wallets, our digital cameras, four extra batteries for the cameras, the rental car keys, and that was it.

When I was in Hawaii we weren't allowed to take bags into Pearl Harbor either... that was a few years ago. I suggest leaving as much as you can on the ship. I know it may be hard, but it will definitly be the safest there!

Thanks everyone, for such good ideas. I like the idea of keeping some things with me at all times and I haven't decided whether this will be pre or post cruise excursion. I may look into a money belt for the valuable and leave the rest on the bus. Can I assume that they will lock the bus?

In Alaska we would leave jackets, hats, other gear and papers on the bus at different stops. They locked everything up and no one had any problems. But it is not like I left anything irreplacable (credit cards/passports) on board either.

Thanks for all your input.

PS I'll probably have tons more questions as I continue to research so thanks in advance!

I recently visited Hawaii and had the pleasure of taking Pearl Harbor tour with a company called Discover Hidden Hawaii Tours. They offer smaller 25 passenger buses which I found appealed to me more the the larger motor coaches. Our driver was Harry and he was not only very knowledgeable but very amusing and friendly. He explained the security policy to us and then escorted us to the lockers that are provided by the park. The storage fee was $3. We took the tour that included the USS Missouri. Being able to walk through the battleship was quite interesting. Here is the web page: http://www.discoverhiddenhawaiitours.com/pearlharbortourww2.php

We were so impressed with Discover Hidden Hawaii Tours that we booked the north shore tour for later that week.:)
