Jolynn2262 Posted August 24, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2007 i have found in my travels that you get the best responses from people when you at least attempt to speak a word or two of their language, even if you make a mistake. To me, it's simply polite. I found a great site by googling speak Russian phrases. It actualy has many basic words in lots of languages. Thank you, hello, Where is the toilet?, Do you speak English? I need help. etc. The words are written in both languages and then you push the sound button and it translates so you can hear it. The Russian is very difficult but I am going to try to at least learn hello and thank you. Here is the link http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/other/quickfix/danish.shtml This one actually goes to Danish. Sorry. I will be in Demark as well, but at the top you can change to what you wish. Hope this can be of use to someone.
Rare ollienbertsmum Posted August 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2007 Try the Russian alphabet too - it is of course not necessary, but it is fun being able to work out (some) of the signs you pass http://langintro.com/rintro/summary2.htm is an interesting but effective way to learn.
