cookyb Posted August 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2007 We will be in Le Havre on a Sept 16th, a Sunday. I wanted to rent a car but discovered the rental outlets are all closed on Sunday. My friends and I want to see Normandy and I hate busses.
SeaBop Posted August 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2007 le_havre@rentacar.fr Contact this company as they have rental cars on the cruise ship pier on Sundays! We're renting one for the day, Sunday 9th. here's their e-mail with prices: "So we can rent a car for two persons and one day no limited kilometers ; this car should be at your disposal at 0800 PM on the pier 9 th september 07 ; the cost is about 80.00 € for the economic small car , 90 00€ for the city car, 110.00 € for a business car and 165.00€ for a van (7 places)." We opted for the 90E per day as it is an automatic. :) Husband is driving and we got an international driver's license at AAA. This note was from Valerie at the Le Havre tourist board. She wrote us about the above rental car info: "You can rent a car even on Sundays at the cruise welcome centre, at Florida Tip, where you dock. You will also find a tourist information desk, shopping and other services there. Valerie.Vimont@lehavretourisme.com
Meribeth Posted August 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2007 Did they tell you what time you can drop the car off? Our cruise doesn't leave until 10pm.
SeaBop Posted August 26, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2007 Best to write them with your port times for the pick-up drop off time answer. Our cruise leaves at 8pm. Wish we had longer!
Meribeth Posted August 28, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 28, 2007 Thanks -- I got an email from them today. They're open from 8am to 8pm.
troywest Posted September 4, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2007 I had a problem when trying to rent (and return) a car on Sunday. When I changed the return to Monday, there was no problem. (I guess they may just close early on Sundays) I assume I'll just use the "after hours return" drop slot that all car rental companies seem to have.
