Going on a cruise in Jan 08. DH would like to know if anyone has done any independent fly fishing with guides that will pick you up at the ship or close by for a day of fishing. For those big New Zealand browns!! Thanks

Rotorua, where we live is just under one hour from Tauanga port, where most cruise ships call. Rake Taupo is another VG area but has the disadvantag that it is about two hours drive from Tauranga. Suggest Rotorua as there is the magnificant thermal area there too. There are a number of guides, who, because the fishing is so good would be likely to guarantee a catch. You could be picked up & returned to Tauranga.
