From what I have noticed with DING, most specials are dates no more than 2 months out. Lately the DING fares have been horrible. The past 3 months, I have found better airfare through other carriers.

It can vary greatly. I got some good deals for my parents in late June for as late as October. You just have to keep checking. If you do book and a ding fare comes along later, you can cancel and reschedule using the fare from your flight and keep the balance for future flights. I did that for my parents and they still have credit to book another flight.

the dings can be anything....sometimes they are for next week, sometimes for a couple weeks, etc..and you never know if, say you want MDW to FLL-there will be a ding for that route....and if you book far enough ahead, you'll do pretty well....
