Things to do in the morning on Aruba

  • Walk on the beach- beautiful in the quiet of the morning, less windy
  • Snorkel
  • Hang out at the beach- little less chance of a bad burn earlier on in the day
  • Shop
  • Casino
  • Horseback riding, ATV
  • There are a good amount of half day tours, or hire a taxi for a couple of hours to show you the highlights
  • Watersports- sailing, waterskiing, parasail, jet ski...
  • Helicopter tour http://www.arubahelitours.com/
  • Aruba Panorama Experience http://www.arubapanorama.com/

We have the same time limits on the Coral Princess 10/31/07 - 11/10/07. We decided to play it safe and book a ship excursion, Sail & Snorkel. With the ship excursion, you are safer in a small time frame about making it back to the ship on time or having the ship wait if your tour is late.

Snorkeling is so easy, and you will receive a little instruction on the tour if you need it. As long as you can float, you can snorkel. Of course, it helps to be able to swim also in case of strong currents, and a strong swimmer will get more out of the tour by being able to go further and see more. The shade issue is a problem, though. There may or may not be shade on the boat, but there is definitely not shade in the water. Many people end up with sunburned backs while Snorkeling because your back is exposed to the sun constantly but the water is cool and you don't realize how long you have been out. And, yes, you could opt to stay on the boat but it would be a shame to miss out on the snorkel experience at least for a little while. All ages go on most of the excursions, and 50ish isn't old, anyway.:)

Gloria...I would be really interested to hear about your trip since this is the one I will be doing on Nov 20. Can you let me know when you get back?

Cindy, I'll post on this board about the Sail & Snorkel in Aruba. It will probably be about 11/12 or 11/13 before I get to it, so keep a watch. Our plan is to do the snorkel excursion from 8-11AM, then go into town for an hour and a half and be back to the ship around 12:30 PM for the 1:00 sailaway. I'll try to take notice of shade on the boat.

If you think you might want to do this excursion, go ahead and reserve it because it could become sold out. You can cancel without penalty up to 24 hours before the excursion. I hope you decide to try snorkeling!

Gloria:

Please let us all know about the snorkeling. I'm booked on Coral Princess for October 2 2008...........Long way out, but same time constraints. I love to snorkel and don't see that I'm going to have much chance on the Panama Canal trip. Was hoping for Aruba being the best spot.

Thanks and happy sailings!

Sara

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm on the Coral Princess Oct 21-31 and am trying to figure out shore trips in each of the stops... or to just wander on my own... a difficult process! There is so much to see and do...Aruba, Cartagena, Panama, Limon, Montego Bay! Suggestions, anyone?

Please let me know what you decide...in the same boat as you. LOL. Our cruise does Ocho Rios instead of MoBay...one of the reasons I chose the date I did. I didn't like MoBay at all...not sure if I will like OR but will give it one try.

Are you going on 10/21? The pamphlet for 10/21 says Ocho Rios but online it is updated and says Montego Bay, and the Reservations form lists MB instead of OR. Check Princess online for itinerary updates because things change... again, are you on 10/21 sailing?
