San Juan Marriott Courtyard or Sheraton OSJ

We are booked at the Marriott Courtyard Isle Verde for a one night pre-cruise stay on 10/27/07. We wanted the Sheraton OSJ for the convenience and accommodations but they were full. Can anyone tell me more about the Marriott Courtyard Isle Verde? I've read the reviews but still have some concerns. Also any tips on any last minute availability at the Sheraton OSJ would be welcomed.

We stayed there last year before our cruise and my biggest concern was the airport. We paid more for an ocean view and didn't hear the planes at all. The hotel itself is ok, we had dinner on the patio at one of the restaurants in the hotel and the food was good and right on the beach. For one night it's more then fine. We're trying the Marriott Stellaris this time. We shall see how that goes.

we didn't love it when we were there a couple years ago stayed only a couple hours and left (most of my issues were due to cleanliness, staff incompetence and outright stupidity and the whole lobby/restaurant/casino scene-i didn't feel comfortable....we wound up at the sheraton which was literally in the middle of converting from a wyndham. the CY is on the beach at least....we left the sheraton/wyndham because the pool was closed and the owners (at the time) were refusing to tell guests that hte place was being reflagged and renovated. also, when we arrived there were large numbers of people (all male, probably cabbies) hanging out on the street.

again, it was a couple years ago-things may change...interestingly enough, when i visited the area the following year (after our ship got diverted to SJ) i didn't notice people hanging out and the sheraton looked decent.

as usual, YMMV but i believe in full disclosure when it comes to hotels...

what are your concerns...maybe someone can address them for you?

If you decide to stay at the Sheraton, make sure you ask for a room away from the street that faces the restaurant/bar (Senor Frog's?). The party there (and in the street) gets started around 11 and goes on until 4 in the morning.
