chuly Posted September 3, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2007 Hi, We are thinking of booking a Med cruise for next summer. Which would be better a cabin on the port or starboard side? Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks:)

Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks:) I was told that the port side is best especially when sailing out of Venice.
John&Betty Posted September 4, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2007 Hi chuly, If you have a balcony cabin and are sailing into Venice anytime during daylight hours you should be on the starboard side. I've never sailed out of Venice but I would imagen the reverse would be true and the port side would be better. At the other ports it doesn't make much difference because you never know how the ship will be docked and when you're out to sea you can't see the shore most of the time anyway. Rare Keith1010 Posted September 4, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2007 We have cruised the Mediterranean several times. Honestly, we have found that it really doesn't matter which side you are on. What we try to do on all cruises is to get a cabin that is centrally located; preferably mid-ship. Although we have a verandah, when we sail into and out of Venice we prefer to go out on the open deck as you can see so much more from there. Finally, we have been to the same port multiple times and sometimes the ship will be in a different part of the port or faced in a different direction each time so that is another reason why we do not worry about which side of the ship we'll be on. dbh62ark Posted September 4, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2007 Hi, We are thinking of booking a Med cruise for next summer. Which would be better a cabin on the port or starboard side? Your comments would be appreciated. Thanks:) The port side was better for scenic viewing on our Millennium Venice to Barcelona cruise this year. We have also cruised the Med several times and found that the "best" side varied depending on the itinerary. If you post the itinerary you are considering, you'll probably receive advice specific to your sailing. Donna
