Totem Poles?

Can you go see the totem poles without having to book an excursion/tour? We won't have a lot of time after the tours we've already planned, and the ship tours sound like several hours. But we'd like to see the totems if there's an easy/quick way (about 2 hours?)

Advice and experience requested!!
thanks

They are all around, you can see smaller versions in gift shops in Juneau, but you can also go to the University in Juneau, they have some up there to look at I believe.

Are you going to Ketchikan??? They are right downtown at Whale Park, at the entrance to Creek St. take the funicular up to the Fox Westmark, walk out the back- several beautiful poles.
