Jodi Cruiser Posted September 4, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2007 My husband And I are going to Halifax in October and wondering if anyone has done the Horse Drawn Trolley on their own not through NCL? Also would like to know the price. Any info on this port would be greatly appreciated. This will be our first time in Canada.
6rugrats Posted September 4, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2007 I don't usually book excursions through a ship, preferring to make arrangements myself. Don't know how long you have in Halifax, but I've been to Nova Scotia many times and highly recommend you consider the following: Take the tour of Alexander Keith's Original Brewery, which is close to the waterfront. I've been on many wine and brewery tours, but this was the best by far. Very entertaining and informative. You can do this on your own. I see this can be booked through the ship for a much higher price then if you just go to the brewery and purchase your own tickets. Their address is: 1496 Lower Water St Halifax, NS B3J 1R9 Canada +1 902 455 1474 / +1 877 612 1821 The Halifax Citadel National Historic Site - you can walk there from the Brewery. The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic - Many Titanic artifacts, amoung other exhibits. You can easily see almost anything here of interest in a day, IMO, and on your own. gracecarmo Posted September 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2007 We plan to walk to the brewery. Our ship will dock around 7, on Saturday, Oct. 6. I know that there is also a Farmer's Market at the brewery on Saturday, so that will be interesting as well. Do you know if FRED makes a stop at the brewery? After walking to the brewery and market, FRED is in our daily plans. I also have a detailed walking tour from a great visitors guide that I sent away for. Halifax is looking like it will be a great stop.....:)
