patatz Posted September 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2007 This may be silly but I'm going to be cruising the Mediterranean in 2008 and would like to know if I need any type of immunization shots. I have never taken any shots before on my other trips but this came up in a discussion with friends and I didn't know the answer. Thanks
cb at sea Posted September 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2007 No--you don't need any immunizations. If you were doing a "land-based" vacation and camping or the like, then you might. But, you won't be spending enough time in any one place to need them. But, it's up to you. The cruiseline does not require it.
Trekker954 Posted September 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2007 go to www.cdc.gov and there should be a link for travel and then immunizations and such.
MattInFLL Posted September 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2007 Generally the only areas of the world that require any kind of immunizations (and sometimes proof of it) are the less developed areas, such as Africa, parts of Latin America, parts of Asia, etc. When I did a safari in South Africa, I had to get a whole host of shots. And I didn't mind getting things like a renewed tetanus shot. Europe is just not a place to worry about this.
