We have been on several cruises and spoke to people who had booked shore excursions independently, not thru the cruiseline. They all seemed very much cheaper and much more varied. Most were booked over the internet. All were picked up right at the ship. Does anyone know of a website that consolidates these tours. We're looking for europe mainly but are interested in all areas.

They are all independent operators so there is no common website. There are, however, a few companies who offer independent tours in several popular ports. One is www.portcompass.com
