Food in Juneau, Skagway & Ketchikan

We'll be in these three ports very soon, and I was wondering if there are any recommendations for places to stop in for a snack? We will have a 6yo with us.

If you'll be at Auke Bay in Juneau for a whale watch - Hot Bite at the boat dock has very good burgers, fries, and shakes.

I always recommend The Paradise Cafe in Juneau. It's downtown, right across from the dock, between the parking garage and the big blue building, The Wharf. You can have light lunches, tea, coffees, and sinful snacks. The bright, eclectic interior appeals to children for sure.

 

If you end up needing ice cream--and who doesn't?--there's gelato at Heritage Coffee, I also believe there's a street kiosk down across from the Tram, but I'm not sure, and Chilkat Cones in The Wharf.

The Skagway brewing company has GREAT hamburgers and REALLY GREAT french fries. It is a bar, but I don't think a 6 yo would be out of place at lunchtime.

At "The Hangar" (the big blue building at the north end of the dock) you can eat and watch the float planes coming and going. We enjoyed the food and had a wonderful huge cobbler with ice cream for dessert.

I'll second "The Hangar" in Juneau. Great food, good draft beer and reasonable prices.

 

The Skagway Brewing company impressed me for it's high prices.

Just returned from a cruise!

 

In Juneau we ate at the Twisted Fish. It's right where the ships are docked. We had Alaska King Crab and it was divine.

 

In Skagway, we had appetizers at the Red Onion Saloon.

 

I recommend both restaurants.

Carmen, we are going to be on the Volendam the same time you are on your trip. 9/14-21. Have a great trip and don't eat all the good food before we get there.
