stprdi Posted September 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2007 we're on the AOS Aruba cruise booked port side. We want to see the ship dock. Anyone know what side it docks on? Could we change without penalty?
Alexis Posted September 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2007 we're on the AOS Aruba cruise booked port side. We want to see the ship dock. Anyone know what side it docks on? Could we change without penalty? You can change your cabin as many times as you wish. You just have to pay the difference in price if you go up a category. I went up three times on one cruise. But, you must realize that the Captain does not always dock a ship the same way in the same port. There are ports they back in aft first, other times pull in bow first and so on. It depends on how many ships are in ports ahead of them and where they are docked. So, you could end on the wrong side of the ship after changing. ;)
Sue L Posted September 9, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2007 We had a starboard side room on the Explorer. The 3 cruises before ours all docked with the starboard facing the Bermuda port. On ours they docked the other way. So you never know. We were the only ship in port and we were told it is up to the port management and currents and conditions as to which way they dock. Don't stress over it as any view is wonderful.
maxs mom Posted September 9, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2007 Sue is right. You never know which side will be in port. Sometimes you're in.....sometimes you're out. Personally, I prefer looking at the sea rather than the (sometimes) ugly dock. Always beautiful and interesting things to see.

It is so close to many bars, and it is priceless to see people run to catch the ship at the last second. No other port is as entertaining as Aruba. Desert Cruizers Posted September 9, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2007 Although we seem to book more on the Port side, I don't really worry about which side, since what ever I want to see, I walk over to that side. Unless I am sleeping or eating I am topside.
