The stuff next to the pier is kind of like a flea market and they are mainly all selling the same stuff (think a small version of the Straw Market in Nassau). No rocking chairs when I was there last week. I saw some really nice cutting boards (bought one) and also some art painted on feathers (good prices). they have bowls and other stuff made from rosewood that are beautiful.

 

I would not suggest leaving the pier area. It didn't look that safe (our tour drove though the downtown area outside the pier and I didn't see many tourists walking around, and I wouldn't waste my time doing so).
