Wait List Sept 23 Pride

I work with the military, so I haven't seen my family in a long time. My family recently informed me they will be cruising on Sept 23 with the Pride. I just got word the other day that I can actually take some leave. I've tried to book a cabin on the cruise, so I can be reunited with my family after over 2 years, but unfortunately it's sold out. They've put me on the wait list and told me I'm first on the list, but I'm skeptical. Anyone know what is the likelihood that someone on the waitlist actually gets on the ship? Does anyone ever cancel this late? Also, any tips or tricks on getting on the cruise? It would really suck if I couldn't see my family on my leave. Any help would be appreciated.

I have never been in this situation, so I can't offer any advice. I just wanted to say thanks for serving our country. Enjoy your leave!

 

Did you tell Carnival all of the circumstances of your leave? Maybe call back and talk to a supervisor and get the info added to your wait list request? Maybe someone will take pity on a member of the Armed Forces? Just an idea!

family? Are all beds full in each cabin?

 

After two years away from your family you deserve a vacation and a reunion and I really hope you can find a way to cruise with them!!!

Nope, They told me the cabins they have are double occupancy only, even though one of them is a balcony room that is large. I told them I didn't mind sleeping on the floor, but still no.

I can't speak with authority, but merely speculating, if you are really at the top of the wait list, I would imagine the odds are in your favor. There are thousands of people on a cruise. Someone is bound to have something come up. Not that you want to hope for illness or injury, but the numbers make it pretty compelling.

 

I would just press Carnival to ensure that you really are top of the pecking order.

Balcony rooms sleep up to 4 people usually. I have always been in a balcony room with my Family and there is a big bead and a pull out couch that sleeps 2. Also if you look on the website it will tell you how much a room accomdates.

I can't even imagine what you are going trough right now, so close to be with your family and it is not happening. I honeslty have no advice for you other than to pray that someone will decide not to go. It does happen, and I do pray that it will happen in your favor.

That's what I thought also. So I thought there would be no problem with me joining them in their cabin, but Carnival has told me the room is only for 2. They said they tried to see if they could swap the cabin for one with a pullout bed, since it was the same class, but they said they couldn't find one they could swap with. Doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks to everyone for your concern. I would love to spend some time with my family on my leave, but sad to say I've grown used to the disapointments and if it's not meant to be I'll just have to hope for next time and continue to press on.

How does the "wait list" process go? What if someone just dosen't

show up for the cruise? At what point does Carnival notify the people

on the wait list?

 

Could Hepcat show up at the terminal to wait to get on? I just enivison

someone might not be able to cruise at the "last minute" and not show

up. Then Hepcat would be ready and waiting.

 

Is this scenerio possible ?

I agree with tnrnchick. My son (just turned 20) is in the navy and left today for his first duty station. I know if I knew your circumstance I would let you have my spot on the wait list. I would hope someone else would do the same for my son if he was in that position.

Most likely the ship has reached it's maximum capacity. What that means is that even though there are still extra berths available, because the overall capacity of the ship has been reached (they have more actual berths than capacity) they can't add anymore 3rd or 4th passengers to a room. That is probably why they can't add you to your family's room.

Also, each individual cabin has a maximum capacity for that room. If you look at a deck plan, you will see each cabin is set to accommodate 2, 3, or 4 passengers. The cabin his family is in must only be set to hold 2.

Expedia is still showing rooms available for this sailing. I don't know if that means anything.

i've seen people put 5 in a cabin.. with a roll away. . i would have your family call carnival and talk to them about it again.. if there are still rooms available i don't see why they can't make a change so you can join them. . they have to find someone that is willing to help you get on the boat with your family.. we will all be waiting to hear what happens and if you get on.. we will pray you are able too so you can have a great leave with your family.

Come on upgrade fairy, if ever a family deserves an upgrade or the biggest suite that is available it is this one. Give them the best you got and let them spend sometime together!! All in favor?

Thanks for checking for me. I also checked expedia and the site says rooms are available until you try to book. Then they say to call a cruise specialist, which I did. They told me it was sold out. I got a little excited whe I saw the available rooms, but it was just a tease

Not all balconies sleep 4. We booked our cruise for next year and at first we booked it with only two people. We then went and added our son to our cabin and how to change cabins because the one we had picked would only sleep two people.

Never hurts to try...go to the roll call for your sail date...Maybe there is someone booked in a cabin that would work for you and your family and would be willing to trade cabins...not sure if CCL would allow this but wouldn't hurt to try...
