jemingway Posted April 14, 2008 #1426 Share Posted April 14, 2008 I was on the Mircle in March 2008 and both Music Unlimited and Jason Davis (Piano Bar Musician) were amazing! "Ticket to Ride" (Beatles Show) was a lot of fun! We just came back from the Miracle last Monday and Jason was great.:D
*Sparkle* Posted April 14, 2008 #1427 Share Posted April 14, 2008 Good Morning Everyone! I am cruising on the Miracle with my boys on 08/21/2008. I have a couple of questions that I am hoping that you can help me with. 1. Does the Miracle have a basketball court? 2. I live in New York City and I don't want to park the car at the port. Has anyone taken the subway to the port? 3. What should I expect when I'm checking in? I alot more but I figure that will do for now.:D

serene56 Posted April 14, 2008 #1429 Share Posted April 14, 2008 2. I live in New York City and I don't want to park the car at the port. Has anyone taken the subway to the port? Would the subway get you to the pier? we got off the NJ transit and took a cab to the pier. (it costs us 7 bucks one way.-- made him leave us off at the corner since "waiting" racks up the $$ and there was a long line waiting to get into the pier. MonaCK Posted April 14, 2008 #1431 Share Posted April 14, 2008 It's not a problem - it's just a bit of a schlep with luggage...
Sandi149 Posted April 15, 2008 Author #1432 Share Posted April 15, 2008 A big schlep, you will have to go from 8th Ave to 12th Avenue. Do you really want to do that with all of your luggage? Why don't you just take a cab?
mprucha Posted April 15, 2008 #1433 Share Posted April 15, 2008 Hi all, Yes to the basketball court. They are right, you could take a subway but you'd have to get off and have a bit of a hike to the pier especially with luggage unless you're reallllllly not bringing much. Do you have someone in NY that could drop you off and pick you up?? That would be a better option. As for the checking in part, you'll get to the pier and they have chairs to sit in while waiting to be allowed on the ship. The have to get the passengers off the ship, the ship has to clear customs before that happens, then they get ready for the new passengers so they don't start letting people onboard until about 11 to 11:30. If you get there too early, you'll have quite a wait. If you get there right at time to get onboard, the chairs will all be taken. If you get there after about 12 or 12:30, you'll basically be able to get right on. They will check to make sure you have all your paperwork in order and give you your s&s card, then you go through security, then have a welcome aboard photo taken, then go through a line to have your picture taken for your s&s card and then you get onboard. yeahbaby Posted April 15, 2008 #1434 Share Posted April 15, 2008 hey sparkle i'm also gonna be cruising on that same day w/ my 2 kids.. from what i've read about checkin.. getting there between 10:30-11 seems to be the best bet. I too was considering taking NJ transit to port authority and then a cab to the pier. .. esp. since the bus stop is 1 block away. Do they hassle you on public transportation if you have lots of luggage? it would cost a lot less too!
serene56 Posted April 15, 2008 #1435 Share Posted April 15, 2008 Getting to the pier between 10:30- 11am will get you onboard by noon- BUT most times you will not be allowed into the cabin areas until 1:30 so you want to pack a "little" carryon as that can get quite heavy carrying around for the next 1 1/2 hours til you can drop it off in the cabin. Lunch will be served on the Lido deck as soon as you board.

Do they hassle you on public transportation if you have lots of luggage? it would cost a lot less too! Maybe I will see you! They do not hassle you on the subway with luggage. I take the A train to JFK all the time. I was planning to take the A,C to 50th street and walk over 4 blocks. I was planning to leave the house at 10am which would get me to the pier between 10:30 and 11am. Since 4 ships leave out of that port I didn't want to ask anyone to drive me and we are only bringing one suitcase per person. Hopefully it will go smoothly

TBear416 Posted April 22, 2008 #1448 Share Posted April 22, 2008 I have a question about the sofabed in a cat.8A balcony. When the sofabed is open is there enough room to walk past it to get to the bathroom? From the pictures it looks like it might be a very tight sqeeze. Especially at night in the dark. I don't think the sofas open up. What they do is take the bolsters off and then put a sheet, blanket and pillow on it. At least that is what they did in my friend's room for her son. mprucha Posted April 22, 2008 #1450 Share Posted April 22, 2008 That's correct, the sofa doesn't open up. It converts when they remove the back bolstersj. There's plenty of room on the bed and there's plenty of room to walk past. I have pictures of a sofa bed made up on our website. http://www.prucha.com/modules.php?name=Cruise_Mania Look under the sections called cabin 6168 and family as well.
