thanks for your reply "madforcruising" - that info really helped - until now whenever I looked at your pics I thought deck 9 was deck 10. so we are one deck lower than what I thought. Thanks for helping me out it's much appreciated. Now if November 14 would just come a little quicker we'll be set!

  • 7 months later...

I noticed folks had issus with schooner bar near 7642. We have choices right over the PIT STOP or right over the CASINO Royale on deck 7 and I dont know what to do? Has anyone roomed OVER these places with problems?

thanks

Jay

Haven´t stayed in that area on the Jewel, but from walk through experience I can tell you that I never saw the Pit stop bar very busy.

We have 7094 which is next to the elevator on the "hump". Will we have problems with noise from the casino? We're not directly over it, but above the back of it. Also, someone said the balconies on the "hump" were OK. Doies this mean these do not look straight down to the white lifeboat covers?

We just sailed the Jewel in a deck 7 balcony room, and yes, we were very disappointed at first to have to see the white roof over the lifeboats outside our balcony - we were 7130. From what I could tell, it's the whole deck except for the ends that have this and you can tell from the deck plan diagram. It bothered us at first, because we love to be able to look straight down into the water, but hey, there was just too much other stuff to do to get us really down! Next time, I'm definitely going to examine the ship better!

Apparently this is not an "official" obstructed view, because you can see clearly straight ahead. But to me, looking straight down into the sea and seeing the motion of the water right next to the boat is a real highlight of any cruise.

I can´t tell you about casino noise. There shouldn´t be a problem with noise from the elevators I think as there is some space between the elevators and your cabin. From a look at my pics from the Jewel and the deck plan I would say that you will still be looking at the lifeboat cover when looking straight down.

OK - NOW I'M PANICING!!!!

WE have booked E1 cabin 7654 on Radiance (because of the larger balcony)- Will there be lifeboats directly under us?? AND Will the noise be bad from what appears to be the Bombay Billard Club directly below us (Schooners Bar is not TOO far away either!))

ANY advice appreciated

I just checked the deck plans and your room won't have the lifeboats under it but it appears to have something else sticking out - I'm not sure. It looks like just the staterooms in the front of the ship get the full view but I could be wrong. Good luck!

I will admit to being a bit confused...we're on 7 on Jewel in November...from the pics, it looks to me like the tenders/lifeboats are "tucked" in under the floor of our deck, if I'm looking at it correctly. Granted, I'd like the ability to "look down" into the water, but it's our first balcony... so ANY "open window" view of the ocean is a good thing...

The round windows in the link...what deck is that? And the deck where the tenders/lifeboats hang-is that considered 1 deck or 2? I'm sooo confused!!!!

The lifeboats hang above the promnade deck. The promenade deck is deck 5. So the lifeboats hang at the hight of deck 6.

So you are correct in your assumption that the lifeboats hang directly under the floor of deck 7.

Not sure about where your balcony on deck 7 is, but most of the balconies have no directly look down view of the water. In the middle part of the ship deck 7 is narrower than the rest of the ship and than the rest of the ship below. So your balcony is not above water, but above the lower decks.

If your are asking about the link to my pic the big round windows are on deck 4. Behind the bigger ones would be the Pursers desk and the smaller ones to the front are cabin windows.

OK I haven´t seen the Radiance so I can only tell how it is on the Jewel and assume that it would be the same on the Radiance.

Your cabin won´t have lifeboats under the balcony. However the lounge under your room will stick out a little further and I don´t think you´ll have the straight down look to the water from your balcony.

I can´t tell you anything about the noise as I haven´t stayed there.

One last comment. I´m not sure and I might be prooved wrong by others who know better but from my rememberance the balcony won´t be any larger than the others. I know the deck plan look different but I don´t think it´s accurate.

Thanks for the info Madforcruising...we have a total of 4 couples going, all scattered around deck 7, all with balconies. Since I was the "instigator" of the trip, I was afraid I would be lynched and thrown overboard even before we sailed or the first "fru fru" drink was poured!!

We're in 7626. From what I can tell, we're over the Schooner Lounge, toward the back of it. I'm not to concerned with the noise...my feeling is that we're only there for 5 nights, I can deal.

does anyone know what the BIG ROOM is on deck 7 map between these staterooms? is it a laundry room or room service room or something?

thanks

Definitely not a laundry room, don´t put any hope in this, there are no laundry rooms on RCCL ships.

It´s some crew area, ships supersturcture, technical equipment area, ....

if you had your choice of 7583 or 7587 or 7561 what would you do with that understanding...avoid being over the casino or pitstop, or avoid the possible crew room. I have basically been promised from RCI that the new ship will be completely sound proof for the interior staterooms over such places as the casino or pitstop, then I hear those with balconies suffering from the piano bar?! it just worries you when you have a choice?!

Tough decision and hard to given an advice. I have no experience with those locations and how soundproof these cabins are. I´ve been on deck ten and had no problems.

If it would be me, but this is only my personal opinion, would probably choose 7583 or 7587. Because it´s closer to the centrum area. I like to be close to the centrum.

Having said this I would keep into decision that 7561 and 7583 are quad cabins. If you choose these there could be a chance of getting moved by RCI if a party of more than 2 needs them.

I wouldn´t expect any problems with the "blank" area on the deck plan. But as I said this is just an assumption.

Good luck with your choice.

MrsFixIt, I understad your angst. I happen to be one of those who studying deck plans alot before choosing a cabin.

But as to whether or not you will be thrown overboard...I would only assume that rather you shall be toasted as royalty - for having brought all these friends together on such a great ship.

The only way to really solve the lifeboat cover issue, it to move to Deck 8-9 and be in the forward or rear areas that are 'thicker" than midships. But again, if your cabins are booked - then by definition they are awesome. Is it really an issue? So many would say no. So you have to look 5ft angled away to see the water line. You can still see plenty of flying fish and the spray of the ship and it slices thru the sea. The white color of the covers does reflect glare and heat, so avoid watching the water go by at 3pm, and you will be fine.

And lastly, it is not the cabin that you sleep in that counts, but rather the deck chair you nap in.

Well I've had a look at the mystery space on the deck plan. If you follow it through the decks it begins to look like a staff stairwell and/or elevator to connect the decks to the main staff thoroughfare which runs the length of the ship in the middle.

It´s not a crew staircase or elevator. I know the crew staircase and several crew elevators for this area are more to the front (Between 7563 and 7573).
