cruiserw/kids Posted September 25, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2007 Flying into Miami on a Saturday, cruising from Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades) on Sunday. Looking for suggestions on where to stay for the 1 night and the best mode of transportation to get to the hotel and then to the cruise ship. Is it best to rent a car, hire a cab/limo, etc? If you have experience with this I would like to hear from you.
sail7seas Posted September 25, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 25, 2007 We transferred several times from Miami to FLL for cruises out of Port Everglades. We took the easiest, least hassle route and caught a taxi. Depending upon traffic, it is about 45 - 50 minutes. The fare is about $80. Not the most economical transportation but worth it to us for the ease.
familycruzer Posted September 25, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2007 We did the opposite of you last month. We flew into FLL and cruised from Miami. We rented a car at FLL for $54 and drove to the Miami Hyatt. Once there we dropped off the rental and took a taxi in the morning to the port. You could rent a car at MIA and drive to FLL and then catch a taxi or a shuttle to the hotel if you book one that offers that service. Then in the morning take a taxi or if the hotel offers it, a shuttle to the port.
megnsamsgracie Posted September 25, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2007 I agree! Rent a car (cheap off priceline, paid less than $25 for one day!) and drop it off and taxi it! We stayed at the Renaissance paying less $80 per night with taxes and the taxi cost us $12 plus tip in the am
