Ocean Sky Resort - Fort Lauderdale

Our TA has recommended the Ocean Sky Resort in Fort Lauderdale. It is not a fancy hotel but looks nice enough. My concern mostly is that is in a safe area. I am a bit fussy about hotels but I would be willing to put up with some stuff to be close to the beach for a reasonable price. Does anyone have any experience good or bad related to this hotel.

Looks pretty nice, the areas fine, give us a review when you return. Do they provide transportation or will you have a car? A cab to the port should be around $20.
