Princess vs TA

When we called Princess direct to get a quote for a cruise the first question they asked is if we have a TA.

 

Why would they care if we have a TA. Are we not supposed to shop around to see if the TA is giving us the best price?

You should be able to get the quote on the Princess website. Go to the "find and compare cruises" section and click on the region, month and cruise length. You can also select a ship if you want. Then click the view button and you'll get quotes.

I think you will find the prices quoted there to be considerably cheaper than Princess's own quotes

 

whoopss...they will not let me type in that online service where you can get a number of quotes from difference agents

If you are talking cruisecompare.com, I've seen it mentioned in other posts, and that makes me think mentioning them isn't prohibited, as it's not mentioning an actual online agency.

I think they ask if you have a TA or not because if you are already working with a TA they would want you to continue working with that one. But if you are just "shopping" then no, you don't already have a TA.

 

I know once you make a firm booking with a TA, Princess generally won't deal with you for your requests - they must go through the TA.
