Tahitian Princess-Marquesas

Because on the majority of cruises, Raratonga's weather prevented any shore landings. Plus it's 2 days at sea to get there. If you can't get off the ship, that's a REAL bummer. We were one of the lucky ones but were not impressed enough to ever make that port again.

The fall 2008 itineraries of TP do not appear to include the Marquesas. Does anyone know the reason?

Princess isn't doing the Marquesas or the Cook Islands in the fall of 08. They've put together IMO an awesome 10 day itinerary without the risk of not being able to tender into the Cook Islands. Personally, I love the new one.

Interesting.... they do not include the Cook Islands either. Probably have decided because the Cook Islands is passed up lots of times because of weather / tendering problems..... maybe they had the same reasons and made the decision for the Marquesas Islands which are both tendered too.

We did a B2B and diverted from Cook to Rangiroa because of a cyclone in the Cook vicinity. Interestingly, with our Cook diversion we did what that Fall 08 itinerary now is for our first leg. We had no problems in the Marquesas on our second leg.
