we book a balcony last monday, for the spirit out of new orleans. i went to show him what the price is today and he says "what you do want me to do, call them up and demand they charge me $300 more".

now, i have never told him about all the fights about people booking and then getting all teed (i am watching golf) off if the price drops.

since monday our balcony has gone up $300, since we started looking the BAs have gone from $799 to over $1100. the BB are not showing, the BCs and BEs have gone up $400.

the oceanview is going for the same price i paid, do you think i should ask for a "downgrade"?

do you think i should complain and demand OBC?

(JUST KIDDING!!!)

everyone have a good weekend and, yes, i have started to pack!!

Don't think you have this quite correct though! We pay (joint account) but HE packs :D (I HATE packing and unpacking - even for vacations).

Hello fellow Mississippian, You want to talk about price jumps, I am on the repo for the 15 day cruise of the Spirit to bring it to New Orleans. When we booked our BE GTY, it was $1100pp. About four months ago the price went up to $5350pp. It has since come down to around $2690pp. The ship is almost sold out. This ship is getting popular because it is the only one doing a 7-day cruise other than the Conquest on the Gulf Coast. Carnival's loss for not bringing in the Triumph like thay had planned. Dave

wow, jetskier, that some price jumping!!! glad you got the lower of the prices. take care of the spirit for me, i don't want anything happening to her.

since this trip is a prize in the companies sales incentives contest, in affect, the whole cruise is free. with the price we saved booking when we did, we will have enough of the companies money to pay for our excursions. plus, last night at the casino i won a new sure-shot camera.

if we booked today, we could get a lower level oceanview for the same price we got our balcony for. just goes to show, you just have to keep checking and not be afraid to trust your feelings when the prices looks good.

nothing better then planning the next trip!!

QUOTE]Hee hee They do, don't they? Your husband knows more than mine, though... I book, I plan, I pack, and he just enjoys the vacation when the time comes! He wouldn't have a clue if the price changed![/quote

This sounds like mine... he has no clue as to what goes on behind the scenes (unless I tell him). He just says..."just tell me where I am supposed to be and when, & I will be there...hehe!! He uses the excuse that "well you like to do that stuff...ie: planning , booking, packing, etc...and I do so I don't complain much. AS long as he's with me that's what's important!!!

except for relax and enjoy yourself...no, not yet. but i will have when i come back.:D DH wants to relax...for roatan, we aren't planning anything. others have reported it's a nice island for just taking island tours or the beach.

for santo tomas, we are doing a mayan ruins tour, but it's only a 1/2 day tour. we are saving the big one for belize..the "lamanai & the new river safari"....lamanai is suppose to have some good example of mayan ruins, the river tour MIGHT have some wildlife, but it's a full day tour. for cozumel, i found a all-inclusive beach for us to enjoy. the beach massage and wave runner will be extra, but the food and drinks will be included. he doesn't drink alchol, but it's still worth the money.

this will be your 3 rd NCL cruise, the last one with the "freestyle" dining. we love it. usually i don't over-plan like this, but this time it just seemed to happen.

on the ship we don't plan anything, just go with what we feel. if we decide to eat at a speciality, we will make reservations..but we don't sweat it. too many other food choices to worry about it. (for us)

Thanks Cathi. Fiance has her heart set on seeing the ruins at Tulum when we stop at Cozumel, but I'm thinking there won't be enough time to really enjoy them. So, I'm trying to talk her into seeing ruins at another port and going snorkeling when we stop there.

We've found a tour that we should enjoy in Belize City. It's one of the Underground rafting and ziplining tours. I'm pretty stoked about that.

We're just not sure what to do in Guatemala or Roatan.

Do you think you could contact me (my contact info is in my profile) when ya'll come back? I'm an experienced Eurpoean traveler, but I'm really apprehensive about visiting the Latin countries.

i thought about tulum also, but knew DH won't like the ferry over and the long bus ride. the one i really wanted to see was out of costa maya, but then hurricane dean happened and that port was changed. have you done a websearch on the ruins..very interesting stuff, great descriptions. some of the best mayan ruins are suppose to be in belize.

this website has links to other belize ruins, all look interesting:

http://www.travelbelize.org/la.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamanai

you can, also, check on the port-of-call boards, they have a lot of information on each of the ports.

that's where i was able to get explanation of the excrusions and learned about nachi cocom, the beach we have reservations for.

OH!!! Nachi is heaven on earth! If I were on my home computer I would post a pic of the pool and beach. Absolutely FABULOUS! Just went in September (first leg of the Fantasy cruises) and the staff was wonderful, food was excellent, facilities clean and beach GORGEOUS! When I show people my pics they can't believe it is for real. Like one of those pictures out of a calendar!! It was such a paradise and so not crowded. Toyz, your husband can get virgin frozen drinks if he likes those. They make a really good pina colada that isn't too potent and I do not drink either, but had a few and didn't get smashed. Can't say that for the folks who had the margaritas, though. They were VERY strong.

We are going to be on Spirit in February! Just booked and really excited, but pretty perplexed about what to do in Guatemala. We will shop in Coz, probably do the beach in Roatan and something similar in Belize. But I was considering going to Tikal in Belize as well.

FYI I have been to Altun Ha in Belize and when I went there was a river cruise. It was really cool and depending on the time of year you will see orchids blooming in the mangroves that line the river. Lots of bromiliads (sp?) and even some monkeys! The roads ARE bumpy though and it is a tiring all day thing. That's why we are considering just heading to one of the cayes and vegging for the day. Mom is considering a dive. I am not even wanting to exert myself that much!! LOL

Please let us know how your sailing goes in December! I am new to NCL (as you can see by the sig) but not new to cruising or the Central American countries and Mexico. I am trying to figure it all out as far as the cruiseline goes, but not at all worried about the ports, so jzuz, if you want, you can drop me a line at chessykat at gmail dot com and I can try to answer questions. Or Toyz, if you want, I can send you some pictures...I would LOVE to see yours when you get back!

DH was in belize, fishing with family, about 15 years ago...was at a "resort" on one of the cayes. loved the lobster sandwiches they fixed for the day's fishing. i missed that trip when they made it a "men only"...bummer!!! really wanted to see the jaguar carvings at some of the ruins in the interior.

we are experienced traveler, but my little simple spanish could be challenged...unless you want to know where the library is? (amazing what you are remember from 4th grade spanish) actually, i grew up camping around the border in california, i understand more then i can speak. we are getting to know NLC very well and loving it. fits us to a "T". (we don't dress up). if i can help anyone with learning about NCL, just let me know.

this will be my 6th cruise, but we have done some other traveling.

main problem is getting to know my new camera...love the instant "video" button!!! thanks for the feedback on nachi!!!
