When do they decorate?

I'm taking a cruise the first week of December and was wondering when they start decorating the ships for the holidays. I have always wanted to do a Christmas cruise and this may be the closest I get! :D

It depends ....... I'm sorry, I know you would like assurances but based on observation you just can't say for sure. Some of the things it depends on are out of the ship's controls. If the ship gets the decorations in time you might see decorations as early as Thanksgiving. Good luck - Enjoy :)

It just occurred to me today that it might be decorated for the holidays. We normally cruise over spring break.

Oh well. It's not going to make or break my cruise but it would sure get me into the holiday spirit! :D

We sailed Serenade out of San Juan the week after Thanksgiving. Cruise began on Saturday night after T-day. They began putting up the decor the first night (while we slept) and over the next two nights put up the rest. We were told that most of the ships will put them up on the cruise after Thanksgiving. There weren't that many but what there was was nice.

 

The weirdest thing was sitting in a beachside restaurant in Barbados - sun shining and breeze blowing - 85 degrees and Christmas carols blaring :D Just felt weird.

LOL. I would love that! We are going to Cozumel and Belize. Maybe we will hear some carols in Spanish! ;)

On Adventure of Seas last year they were up for a cruise that departed a couple of days after Thanksgiving. Nice giant Xmas tree in the Promenade.

We did a New Years Cruise a couple of years ago on HAL and by the time we docked at the end of the cruise all the decorations were down.

I'd say your chances are pretty good, and as Gonzo mentioned, the Voyager class ships are particularly nice because of the huge Christmas tree in the Promenade. Here's a couple of pics from the Mariner:

You're very welcome, and you're absolutely right, the tree was amazing. I ate at the Promenade cafe much more than usual on that cruise, just so I had a reason to go see that beautiful tree. :)

Every cruise we have ever been on has been in early December. I have never been on a ship without a Christmas tree.

 

I guess since my next cruise is in January....there'll be no tree.:eek::eek: :eek:

Unless the ship is like some of my neighbors, then their decorations will still up by Easter....LOL
