transfer from Alexandria to Cairo airport

We will end our cruise in Alexandria and must go to Cairo airport for our return home.

What is the best way to go to the Cairo-airport, with luggage ? What is the cost ? What is the distance between the port of Alexandria and the airport of Cairo ?

I can't answer most of you questions, but it took about 2 1/2 hours by train from Cairo to Alexandria and about 3 hours coming back on a private coach.
