Rachel4daughters Posted October 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2007 Hi, first cruise ever! July 6, 2008 on Mariner. Is the pool water as murky as when you go to an Eastern Seaboard U.S. beach? Goggles for my swimming daughters? How shallow/deep are the pools? Thanks!
wrp96 Posted October 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2007 There is no shallow end in the main pools, and you aren't able to touch the bottom of the pool. But the pools are not deep enough (or big enough) for diving. If that gives you any indication to size. The pools are usually not murky and they probably won't need goggles for the pool itself. You may want to bring the goggles with you though if you plan to do any beach excursions.
GMoney Posted October 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2007 I think Mariner still has salt water pools, so your daughter may want the goggles if that's an issue.
maldemar Posted October 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2007 The pools are clear. They use sea water, but its is filtered, so visually its as clear as your neighborhood pool. Googles may be useful is your daughter finds that salt water stings her eyes. Sounds like you may be pleasantly suprised by how different the water will look compared to the eastern seaboard beaches. cb at sea Posted October 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2007 There will be no sand, no seaweed, no sea life, etc... in the pool! It looks just like chlorinated water, but it's slightly salty.
nichb0 Posted October 10, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 10, 2007 If I recall correctly, the pools are a depth of a little less than 5 feet. Probably over most kids' heads.
