5 things you hate about RC

My only negatives are:

 

1. No goodie basket. Carnival always stocks your room w/ free samples of razors, lotions, toothpastes, hair ties, gum, etc. Every time no matter what room you are in.

 

2. Robes. Come on now, do we really have to be that stingy? Carnival does robes for all outside cabins. RC used to, but now makes it a "perk" you earn.

 

3. Why create an adult only solarium (which I love by the way) and then put the pizza, ice cream and ping pong tables in there?

 

That's it......I love them anyways!!

Not having a self-serve laundry facility is a big issue for me. We rarely take 7 day or shorter cruises and packing for longer cruises is a real chore. Add to that, the limited baggage allowances on most airlines and you have the recipe for a problem. I don't like to wear anything more than once. Multiply that by two and we're talking about a lot of clothes. Money isn't the issue for me. I prefer to do it myself.

My wife and I just got off the Northern Europe cruise on the Jewel of the Seas a few weeks ago and we had a great trip. We got to meet new friends, saw great places and loved cruising with Royal Caribbean. It was our second cruise with RC and wont be our last.

 

However if you had to list 5 things you hated, or think RC could do better what would they be?

 

In this neighborhood you ask a question and you will get an answer. Sometimes there are some you just don't feel like reading. People here really take some things so serious. I guess you should have listed a "Wish List" instead of a "hate list". Like: I wish the Internet was faster, I wish I could have kept my curtains open 24 hours a day without wondering if someone was looking in, etc.

 

I'll be on RCL so the first time this January and from the posts I read they are almost like every other cruiseline around. You take the good with the bad.

 

Welcome aboard! We chatters love to chat. Just remember that you have to be able to take some of the comments here at Cruise Critic with a grain of salt.

BTW - Another to someone who takes me too seriously, as well. I never spoke about laundry like it is a terribly offensive thing, but it is something I've never felt the need to do on a cruise. I might feel differently if I were on a multi-week cruise, but mine have all been 7-nighters, so far, which I can manage quite nicely with one large rolling suitcase. Then I wash the clothes when I get home, in my new-fangled, fancy washing machine. :D

 

Now see, I thought the "new-fangled, fancey washing machine" was a nice touch. :D

I still have to load and uload my washing machine:eek: . I want one that you don't even have to do that:D . But I think that goes back to the hiring someone to do it, just not the expense I want. But I did have a child and I don't think I have to pay her - yeh that's it - train her to do it:D

That's the ticket. I remember before we had an automatic dishwasher, my sister and I would alway beg our dad to get a dishwasher. He would always calmly explain that he already had 2 perfectly fine dishwashers, why would he need a new one? Of course, that was right before we got a new dishwasher - who says being a daddy's girl doesn't pay......;)

Re: Photos On Board...I would like to see RCCL offer a package deal like Regent offers on their cruises. On our Alaska cruise you could get every photo taken for $99! That was a great deal as we ended up with over 20 photos.

All you have to do is keep booking back to back cruises.

Then you only have to get off for the short time it takes to clear customs (in the US and Canada anyway) and then you can get right back on. I read about a lady who cruises instead of living in a retirement home. Since she books cheapest cabin with discounts and/or OBC and controls her onboard spending (no casino, shore excursions, drinks,etc.) thus finds it not that much more expensive than living on land.

 

 

This a great idea and one that I would consider if it were only me the DH would definately NOT put up with slow internet...He would leave me first.

 

One thing I can tell you, is that if I were going to do this, it would NOT be on RCI. I have to be able to have alcohol in my room. NO, I am not an alcoholic. Do you go to a bar everytime you want a glass of wine?

That's another reason we do cruises longer than 7 on Princess. Pack less, use self-serve.

Nice try there girlie. You're actually behind all my girlfriends and the girls in the office. That would put you about 12. Where is that numbered ticket spitter when you really need it? ;)

1) I dislike the lines for getting on tenders

2) I dislike packing the night before you get off the ship

3) You cant pick what shore excursion or shopping on TV. YOu have to watch the show until it shows what you want.

4) I dislike load people in the adult pool area be it kids or adults.

5) I dislike I cannot buy a bottle in the liquor store on the ship and bring it to my cabin.

6) I dislike smoking in the casino

7) I dislike small dance floors for dancing.

8) I dislike not being able to find a table easy in the windjammer

9) Not knowing what the weeks entertainment or special parties before I go on the cruise.

10)Having my luggage distroyed from the pier to on the ship. This has happened 3 times. 1 with cheap luggage, twice with more sturdy luggage.

11)I dislike lines for the formal shots and meeting the captain

12)The spas pushing their products after a treatment.

What can I say, I am basically a wine drinker.... that and martini soaked olives (sans the actual martini) on rare occasions. However, now that DH is in such high demand he may be able to become accustomed to green.
