Beach and Nature Preserve on same day

We would like to do the Nature Preserve to see the monkeys in the afternoon with our kids. Is there a good/fun beach nearby or close to the pier? I have heard good things about the boatyard. Would it be possible to do both? Also, should we go to the preserve with the ship's tour or just take a cab? I'm worried about making the ship if there is traffic.

Great question. Would love a reply from anyone that could shed some light. I have heard the 2:00pm feeding is great but wonder how far the preserve is from the ship and or "theboatyard" if we were to do this beach thing in the morning say until 12:30. The question is how far is the preserve and possible cost via cab.

Boatyard and your ship(at the port)

are just 5-10 mins away from each other,

depending on traffic thru Bridgetown.

 

Nature Reserve is clear up the other end of the island,

so I'd allow 45 mins. drive-time in either direction

between the Reserve and the Bridgetown/Port//Boatyard area.

Pretty much!

 

Nice beach, with watersports,

big jumping trampoline out on the water

plus a sorta floating rock wall thing to climb.

 

If you fall off, all you make is a big splash.

- very popular with kids, I'm told.

 

 

You can also walk aways up the beach towards Hilton out on the point

where it gets a bit breezier and cooler.

I've always found Boatyard a bit hot

- it's right down at the bottom of the bay, where less wind circulates.

We went to the Wildlife Reserve on our trip in March and I was so glad we did! We contracted with Cameron Reid (http://www.scenicbarbados.com) to take us a few places we wanted to see, then to the Reserve. We arrived there around noon and saw tons of monkeys, so don't think the 2PM feeding is the only time you will see them.

Cameron charged us $30/person - there were 5 of us. The admission to the Reserve is $11.50/person and well worth it! Here is their website - http://barbadosmonkey.dhc-ltd.com/
