Batch5 Posted October 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2007 Hello, DW wife booked a D1 cabin (our first balcony) on the Grandeur next Oct and was wondered what is the deference between D1 vs. D2. I do not see a difference in the verbiage when reading about the categories and they are both on the same deck. Is it just the position of the cabin on the ship, and a difference in price as well. Thank you
MakinGold Posted October 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2007 Just location and/or capacity. Some of the D1 cabins accommodate 3rd/4th passengers. I think the D2s are all two-person only, but I could be wrong. It appeared to be that way on the Voyager, which I'm booked on in a D1.
Mark_K Posted October 17, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2007 D1's are all on the top passenger deck (usually 10) or accommodate more than two people. Otherwise they're exactly the same.

Some are also D1 because they are adjoining cabins.
dixieva Posted October 17, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 17, 2007 D1 on Grandeur are on Deck 7. Maybe it is different on different ships but on Grandeur they are on 7. JS on 8, deck 9 is the Windjammer and pool. I don't think there are any rooms above deck 8 but you can check the deck plans for that ship.
robtulipe Posted October 17, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 17, 2007 In this year's cruises all non suite balconies (deck seven) on Grandeur are D1s but next year over half are now D2 category. I guess some cabins get down graded as ship gets older.
