Bag question - Caribbean

Recommended Posts

Some friends are going to the Caribbean in January, flying with Thomson to New Orleans to join Arcadia. They are wondering what happens with their luggage when they get to New Orleans - do they have to collect their suitcases, or are they transferred straight to the ship?

Also coming back (from Barbados), will they have to put their cases out the night before disembarking, like we do at Southampton, and have them automatically transferred to the airport?

Thanks,

Polly

They transfered our straight to the ship last year

Yes leave them out the evening before

Thanks,

Polly

Don't you have to enter the US at your point of arrival? Wouldn't that normally mean getting your bags and then going through immigration? That's what we've had to do whenever we've flown to the USA. Once they've let you in, that's when I would expect to be able to contact the cruiseline reps and hand over the bags.

In Barbados they send the luggage to the ship it is not handled by local bag handlers. Passengers do not enter Barbados you get on a bus and on to the ship then formalities take place.

I think something like this happens in New Orleans.
