How is the shopping in Barbados.

Shopping on Broad St. in Bridgetown is okay

but to be honest with you,

you might get better deals in St.Maarten?

Still.. each island has something the others don't,

so do look around, whichever island you're on for the day.

I am with alpmac, shopping in St Maarten was great in my opinion, so many shops and stores when compared to Barbados.

In Barbados, I found a few stores way downtown, they were ok, nothing I would ever go back to, but thats just me.

There are a few shops right at the port where the shuttle drops you off - liquor stores and a great handmade pottery decor shop (this is the one shop I do love). In that little section, there are jewelry stores, tee shirt stores, rum cake stores and little general souvenier shops with tschotkies. Outside that area there are some local vendors selling random things. Youll find things to buy I just wouldnt say its great.

Just my 2 cents.

To give you an illustration of what the deals are like in St.Maarten,

I bought my new Canon A630 digital point-and-shoot camera in St.M.

for US$240 - coulda prob. got it cheaper

but both the store guy and I were too busy to haggle much

- he threw in a 512 Mb. SD card instead and I'm grateful.

The very next day we were in St.Lucia

at Point Serpahine Cruise Complex(Duty Free)

I saw the identical camera for US$399.

-and that would have been without the 512 Mb. SD card, I'm sure

(just with the lil 16 Mb.card wot comes standard with the cam)

You do the math!

(Prices in Barbados would be similar to those in St.Lucia, by the way)
