Aplmac Posted October 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2007 I had a friend tell me that there is paragliding available in barbados. Has anyone heard of this? I think she might be thinking of somewhere else Paragliding/Parasailing..all same thing? If that is the case, then yes we do have a Parasailing outfit here in Barbados. Have had, for decades now! And just the other day, driving down the waterfront in Bridgetown, I saw the boat tied up in the Careenage, so there's hope for you.
kayak17 Posted October 28, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted October 28, 2007 paragliding is a little bit different than parasailing...paragliding, is when you run off some sort of cliff and fly through the air. Thanks for your help...is parasailing easy to find in barbados?
Aplmac Posted October 28, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2007 paragliding is a little bit different than parasailing...paragliding, is when you run off some sort of cliff and fly through the air. Thanks for your help...is parasailing easy to find in barbados? Oh I got you now! (I was in duuh mode, earlier, sorry) yes, there was some para-gliding going on here up at Mt.Pleasant, in the Eastern section of the island, but I'm unsure if anyone still does it here (they prob. do, I'm just not in touch, but could find out) -- I'm making enquiries right now -- --ok there's a guy here called Paul NUGENT... call him at 1-(246)-261-1676 and they do it now at Conset Bay, "near John Armstrong's house" I'm told.. and Cove Bay(Gay's Cove) both out on the windy East Coast. So now you know! Conset Bay is THE place, it seems, Cove bay's an alternative,it sounds like. Parasailing here... I imagine so. Like I said, I saw the boat tied up alongside where active boats tie up, and so assume it's an ongoing operation. I don't spend as much time as I used to, on the coast, but I can tell you we've had ParaSailing here since the late 1970's-early-1980s at least, and since I also saw the boat a few days ago, I'd bet it's still around. It's GOTTA be!(even though I don't see a listing under Parasail of any kind, in the phone book some watersports operator will know, fear not!!) Aplmac Posted October 28, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 28, 2007 awesome! thanks so much for your help suggest you call well ahead to Paul N. and get emails organised, so you guys are well in touch with ea. other prior to your getting here, since I'd imagine this is no regular commercial operation, but rather a hobby thing among those who know. Don't wait til you get here.
