jks9103 Posted October 31, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2007 We are going on our first cruise in April 2008, Royal Caribbean, April 5-11, departing from San Jaun and going to St Thomas, St Martin, Antigua, St Lucia and Barbados. I 've researched that all the islands are in the Atlantic time zone and none observe daylight savings time. Since all the islands are in the same time zone, will ship time and local time always be the same? Thanks!
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 31, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2007 In most cases the ship time will be consistent with the local time whether or not it is daylight savings time or not. Keith

cb at sea Posted November 1, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 1, 2007 Even if the time changes (and if it does, the Captain will let you know!) keep your watch set to SHIP'S TIME! Otherwise, you risk being late back to the ship from any ports! It doesn't matter what time it is anywhere else, you MUST go by ship's time! There are clocks by every stairwell/elevator. Make note of the time before you leave the ship!!!
adamsmom Posted November 2, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 2, 2007 I have been on cruises where the ship stayed with the time of the port of embarkation, no matter what time zone we were in. Then I've been on others where they gave you a note at night that you are to change your clocks because we were passing into a different time zone. So, I agree with cb at sea--always be aware, especially when going ashore, of the ship's time.
Sheffie Posted November 3, 2007 #6 Share Posted November 3, 2007 Yes, on the Serenade of the Seas Southern Caribbean sailings ship time and local time are always the same. As usual, I agree with Wrona! You are in for a great cruise! As you can see, we have done this exact cruise twice. The ship is fabulous and the itinerary cannot be beat! If you'd like to whet you appetite, check out my pictures. Have fun planning for a wonderful time!
CDRMark Posted November 3, 2007 #7 Share Posted November 3, 2007 If the time at each end of the gangway is not the same, someone is doing something wrong. Cheers Mark
