Walking tour to and back from El Morro

not a walking tour itinerary as such, but check out my google map. it has a few highlights for old san juan (more will be added in th future). some of the symbols have links to a blog post and it should give you an idea.

If you're docking at the pier in OSJ (some people call it Pier 4) rather than the Pan Am pier, you can just walk uphill! Actually, it's a good idea to have some kind of map- p/c one at the library (like in the Frommer's) or download one from these sites. Also, the small Tourist Office right by the dock has a nice booklet about OSJ with a walking map inside. Unfortunately that office gets very crowded, but if you go in, you may find some of the booklets just piled on a table.

 

OSJ is an interesting area to just wander around- but don't spend too much time in the shops (LOL) or you might need to rush through the forts. (Both forts are run by the NPS, so if you have a NP pass, bring it on the cruise.)
