I get emails from Qantas about their airfare sales. Here's one which might help folks on one-way cruises between Sydney and Auckland:

There are two travel periods for these fares:

---January 26 to March 18 2008

---March 26 to April 8 2008

 

These prices are for internet sales only at qantas.com, and the sale ends November 21st 2007.

Or check Virgin Blue on the net their regular fares from NZ to Aus seem to be really cheap too. Also Jetstar has cheap fares between Christchurch and Aus.
